Great magazine for parents of all ages! This interview by Erika Brown, make me travel back in time, all these years living here almost 26 years since I live in Seattle, she popped a question? when did you do your first art piece? my answer, 1996 while taking a pottery class at Mountlake Community Center, I was 22. Next year I moved back to Mexico City and enrolled at INBA to complete a degree in Ceramics, a though school! Sometimes, I find it hard to believe that my dreams have come true, I make my living 100% as an Artist and Teaching Artist.

Press Release: La Sala is Cooking Up ‘La Cocina’
What Is La Cocina?
La Sala presents a pop-up interdisciplinary arts salon using the theme of ‘cooking’ to envisionimagine the future of the pan-Latino/a/x community of the Pacific Northwest.
La Sala invites you to join us in La Cocina (the kitchen)! La Cocina is a place where people congregate to share the latest news and delight in the aromas of abuela’s age-old recipes side by side with new culinary creations. Inspired by the metaphor of the kitchen – a space that is intensely social and expressive – La Sala will gather some of the Puget Sound’s most dynamic Latina/o/x visual artists, dancers, musicians, actors, writers and poets to cook up something special!
La Cocina is an exciting month-long art space that will pop up in Pioneer Square at the Good Arts Building during the month of August. La Cocina artists will collaborate across artistic disciplines and diverse Latinx perspectives to advance dialogue, both within and beyond our community. We’ll be serving up a delicious mix of flavors – ranging from traditional and folkloric to urban and contemporary, and informed by the beautiful constellation of African, Indigenous and European elements that shape our identities.
La Cocina Grand Opening during the Seattle Art Fair opening night features contemporary visual art by the next generation of Latino/a/x artists from the Pacific Northwest, curated by artist Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys. A diverse group of visual artists present sculpture, painting, photography, and an interactive altar installation by multidisciplinary artist, Kū (Rafael/a Luna-Pizano).
